GSU BA Graduation

Hello sunshines,

After four years of dedication, on May 7th, 2025, I received my bachelor’s of arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies (WGSS) with a concentration in Social Change and a minor in Public Policy! Seeing my fellow classmates and activists walking across the commencement stage was beyond moving, but to see the room full of support for us all was indescribable. I even got to see peers of mine from middle school share this journey. I left with newfound hope, which was especially needed given the fear instilled by the current political climate. I feel prepared to do the work it is going to take for freedom as I have now seen first-hand the support my peers and I have. Furthermore, I am excited for my next two years in the WGSS master’s program as I learn more about how to be an activist, take on an intersectional lens, and better support my peers.

When I first got to Georgia State, I was terrified. It seemed like the only people I ever recognized were always on Bird Scooters riding violently fast in my direction. I switched my major several times, and felt incredibly discouraged on how to make a difference. When I took my first WGSS course, I fell in love. I always thought statements like that were a cliche, something airy just said to make you feel good. But WGSS brought me a community of support, intimate friendships, and resources to assist me in finding my career. I am so grateful for all of the support I have received along the way and in this program, and I can’t wait for the next two years.
